My brother does PR for Blizzard and is preparing the campaign for its release early next year worldwide. Obviously while this is an "American" company the majority of the money is overseas, Korea, China, Japan, etc with the televised gameshow tournies and so on. From his mouth directly, there is another race present in the game and without him getting too pissed at me, it does begin with "V". From a PR standpoint, it had nothing to do with balancing the races. The 4th race will be in the game in the same capacity as the dt's in SC1 prior to the expansion pack. They will be in the storyline, have cities and attack you, even an alliance at one point. The decision was made to hold them out until the expansion set. The feeling was this: Blizzard entertainment put everything into this game and just as much to keep it a secret for so long. An SC3 is no less than 10 years away, and to preserve the momentum of SC2 for as lnog as possible, an expansion pack introducing the 4th race would be almost like releasing a new game entirely. They didn't want to blow their wads so to speak. Also, the units, characters and the graphics for the 4th race are complete. There are maybe 5-6 units in all, so in order to make is a reality there would need to be a great deal more work and to do it now would push back the release at least another year. Relax they are there and it is a plan.
