It's bad enough we have to buy the game and then two expansions. . . really don't wanna pay for online. Although that would probably be the only thing that would convince blizzard to finally stop hackers lawl...

It's not P2P, but it is. Allow me to explain:

At Blizzcon 09 Blizzard announced that they would allow mappers (referred to by Blizzard as modders) to create "premium maps". These "premium maps" would carry a small fee to play and in Blizzard's words "give indie creators a reason to stick to Blizzard's games".

Of course that's not Blizzard's only reason, for they also intend to take an in-so-far undisclosed percentage of all premium map earnings.

With some form of built-in model editor, models will soon become non-third party products, therefore likely be subject to the new "premium" system.

At this time Blizzard has guaranteed that at no point in the foreseeable future would general multiplayer games become P2P. Though with this recent turn of events, one wonders exactly how long the "foreseeable future" might be.

(in case you're wondering, my main source for this was GameInformer's October 2009 edition, which spent the majority of an article on Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, talking about how the new P2P system was a good thing)

StarCraft 2 will be played online via Battle.Net, once again for free, as of like Starcraft and Starcraft: BroodWar. I do not know if Battle.Net/Blizzard will change their minds or faqs, but from what I have read, it will be free!
It was an original rumor I also heard -- but all signs point to free to play online.

I heard d3 is the pay-to-play game coming out. <-sorry for off-topic.

I have been gone for quite awhile, which means quite awhile to mature and extend my knowledge on certain things, one being Torrents.

I highly think that this whole "Premium Maps and Models" idea, will be exploited very quickly in the form of Warez or Torrents. One of those exploiters being me, lol.

I ain't gonna pay shit to play on a fuckin' map, that's just fucking stupid. That really does piss me off.

Blizzard has gone Benedict-Fuckin-Arnold, they can take their World Of WarCraft, and shove it up their World Of Asshole Schfinkter... Although I will still play StarCraft and Diablo.... Those fucks.
