I watched the blizzcon 2007 demo of starcraft 2 and they said you will be able to run on directx9 and directx10.

to run smoothly you should get a 256 to 512mb video card, a 512 to 1gb up Memory, a dual core to quad core processor. and a nice intel board and chipset..i think it will run in a windows xp box..

You might have to get a higher RAM and change a few other things, but nothing big.

If StarCraft II will run SOLEY off of DirectX 10, they will not make many sales and will get numerous complaints. Just now they have come out with DirectX 9.0c, it is already extremely pricey to upgrade to a compatible drive. Therefore, if they even DirectX 10 Only, they will lose a lot of customers. One including me, I do not have wads of cash laying around.

It's been pretty much confirmed that SC2 will run on XP and therefore DirectX 9.
