Improvements

Well these forums have been pretty dead lately so how about we get some discussion going.

Now, while we have seen some gameplay footage of SC2 and we do know a few new features of both the gameplay and the races, what changes from the origional Starcraft are you hopeing to see implimented in SC2.

Myself:
*More features added to observers and replays. With all the pros out in Korea and the number of people who want to spectate and watch their replays, it would be cool to have more features like a scoreboard in game to show player stats and food. Or to be able to click on a unit and see more stats like minerals mined by a probe, or total points earned based on the scoring system the game uses.
*More features for clans. WC3 was a nice start, but more features such as ways to set up matches against other clans would be cool.
*Ability to set up private tournaments. Tournaments in WC3 were a lot of fun, but they often took a lot of time. A way to set up a mini tournament with your clan or against another clan woud be a lot of fun to play with your own friends.

PS: I know I'm not a moderator or anything, but can we keep this thread somewhat on topic. I know I'm guilty of doing it too, but it seems to happen to almost every thread here.

I strongly agree with you, Kemps. The threads are getting way off topic, and are in fact kind of dead.
I personally think, based on what is said on the SC2 website, that a lot of the things I didn't like with SC1 or thigns I wished were present, have been noticed and added or improved for SC2. I think a more user friendly map editor/creator would be a really good addition. The old one, I was able to figure out, but took a long time to get a good map/ level created.

Regarding the observering of replays and such.. Blizzard has already vowed that they are definitely going to focus on that.. it's actually the core of what SC2 is going to revolve around.. multiplayer gaming while making it more of a spectator sport at the same time.

I never thought about the private tournament option, that's actually a good idea. It would be awesome, for example, for us, holding SC2.net tournaments... it'd make them a snap to do

My suggestion for SC2 is that Blizzard really focus on keeping the game catered for what it was designed for. That means, try to keep the maps proper.. no 0clutter or BGH maps but just good, balanced low resource maps. Their ingame ladder, matchmaking system, etc. needs to be very-well designed and run as well.

Blizzard should have a zero-tolerence policy to hackers too, banning their CD key and account for life, no second chances.

Yeah I've actually read several things lately about blizzard really working on replays to cater towards the following in Korea. I've also heard (of course it's still just a rumor that was translated from a korean site) that there could possibly be in game advertisements to keep battle.net free. I personally don't have a problem with this as long as it's not too intrusive such as doodads that have logos on them. I guess in Korea they put advertisements onto the terrain for big games most likely only the spectators can see.

No, they don't do that in Korea, and B.Net already has advertisements on it.. it always has... the top banner..

we can actually just hold a tourny our selves, having people sign up in a forum and be there at the date of tourny and make rooms and people will just spectate. altough it would be nice if we litterally can hold our own tourny from the game its self. think about it, a tourny ladder system that would decide who goes up against whom.

Yeah it's definitely not necessary, but it would be a nice feature. Considering how much there is on the line in Korea all the obvious things that need to be improved will, its just fun to think of what additional features will be added. Unfortunately I'm affraid they'll be too scared of ruining something that so many people are used to that they won't be adding anything wildly innovative.
