Twilight Archon

The Twilight Archon has been added to the official site:

http://www.starcraft2.com/features/protoss/index.xml?tab=twilightarchon

It looks like they have changed the model since it was shown in the PC Gamer video. I think it looks much better. It also sounds like you can either combine 2 HT's, 2 DT's or one of each to create an archon.

It's funny they mention dark and high templars in the description while they haven't released the details to these units yet .

I saw that and you don't know how happy i am finally i can unleash an army of battle cruisers and the upcoming Thors which are bnig targets without fear of Dark archon retribution i just hope it isn't like the mutalisk evo that you have a choice.

So a twilight archon is 2 dt + 2 ht? Or is it 1 dt and 1 ht? So does that mean the regular archon and dark archon won't be in the game or that every combination of the templars will create a twilight archon?

As much as I like the protoss and using them fancy maelstrom and mind control, I think the fact that you could take over an enemy worker and develop a seperate race was a little unbalanced... As far as thors and battleships I think that's what the Warp Ray is for; and by the looks of its hp I think it will be pretty cheap ))

But consider the fact that a separate race requires twice the resources it balances out. I have yet to see a pro player build another race in competitive gaming. It's not as glorious as you think.

the biggest advantage is the population bonus; I've used the extra race several times for harvesting to pop out more units of my own kind...

Although I never developed them far, I've gotten some siege tanks or medics for zeals; or zerglings... either way the overhead is really small. On a side note, I only did it in at least 3v3 games that lasted longer than 30~ minutes.
