I think that alot of people would like to have new races to explore so much that they wouldn't care if its balanced. Blizzard wants to keep its 3 signature races fair and balanced. I say that a compromise would to have Zerg, Terran, and Protoss balanced well as the "Major Races" these would be the most powerful races in the game. In addition there would be "Minor Races" to play. These would be varied in how strong they were but they would all be much weaker than the major races. What do you think of that idea?

Starcraft wont becasue of the fact that the 1st game was so good they dont want to ruin the second one becuase of a 4th race also they quoted that why put in a fourth race if there is no need to!!!
THERE WILL BE NO 4TH RACE SORRY TO ALL BUT U GOTTA LEARN TO DEAL WITH IT!!

My guess right now is that there will be still only 3 races in Starcraft 2.

i think perhaps blizzard should put a fourth race in the beta to see how it gos with other people (if there is a beta). but i mean you got to edmit that a fourth race would get you pretty curious. for me a 4th race would be no problem as long as it is all balenced.
OH AND WHAT THE FUCK ZERG DOSE NOT GET THE BEST OF PROTOSS!!!!!!

4 races is a lot harder to balance then 3 races because there is a lot of more match ups. Also, if they added a forth race in beta, and it was removed, a lot of people might become unhappy, yet if they stayed with it, they risk running starcraft 2 into the ground. Warcraft 3 isn't nearly as balanced as starcraft was, and it had 4 races.

My brother does PR for Blizzard and is preparing the campaign for its release early next year worldwide. Obviously while this is an "American" company the majority of the money is overseas, Korea, China, Japan, etc with the televised gameshow tournies and so on. From his mouth directly, there is another race present in the game and without him getting too pissed at me, it does begin with "V". From a PR standpoint, it had nothing to do with balancing the races. The 4th race will be in the game in the same capacity as the dt's in SC1 prior to the expansion pack. They will be in the storyline, have cities and attack you, even an alliance at one point. The decision was made to hold them out until the expansion set. The feeling was this: Blizzard entertainment put everything into this game and just as much to keep it a secret for so long. An SC3 is no less than 10 years away, and to preserve the momentum of SC2 for as lnog as possible, an expansion pack introducing the 4th race would be almost like releasing a new game entirely. They didn't want to blow their wads so to speak. Also, the units, characters and the graphics for the 4th race are complete. There are maybe 5-6 units in all, so in order to make is a reality there would need to be a great deal more work and to do it now would push back the release at least another year. Relax they are there and it is a plan.

one more thing
And yes, they are the hybrid race from the hidden level, plus there is the introduction of the ancestral race that gave birth to the protoss and zerg, but there is something in the storyline from what my bro described (the story isn't completely done, but for the most part) it's like the storry from deep space nine with odo and the shapshifters and the jemhadar (sp?) where they are pissed and want an army to regain control because the they were cast into perdition by the zerg and shunned by the protoss. They live in the rift of space that the dark protoss draw their power from, caused the split in the protoss as alluded to in SC1 as a way to cause civil war and weaken the race with zeratul leaving. But now as they are reunited they fear that the high templar will discover the truth. Some crap like that...it's pretty friggin' neat. People can start calling this post a lie now if you want to...for everyone else, I thought it would serve to satisfy some curiosity and now my brother will disown me if he ever sees this sight. Ah what the hell....Vinexx

Somehow, the above ending seems way too predictable. But if the information really is true, then sc2 might have quite an interesting future.
